Biography

Dale Han, MD, FACS earned his undergraduate and medical degrees through the Scholars for Medicine combined medical program at SUNY at Stony Brook. He completed his general surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is a Board Certified surgeon. He subsequently completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Han also completed post-doctoral research fellowships in surgical oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and at the Moffitt Cancer Center. During his research fellowships, Dr. Han looked at ways to improve response rates to isolated limb perfusion therapy in a melanoma xenograft model, examined the molecular pathways utilized by melanoma cells to gain resistance to BRAF-directed therapy and studied the clinical outcomes of patients with melanomas, sarcomas and endocrine tumors. His research, particularly in the field of melanoma, has led to publications in prominent oncology journals such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Annals of Surgical Oncology and has led to several awards, most recently the Trainee Award for Outstanding Presentation at the 2013 Joint International Oncology Congress.

Dr. Han specializes in melanomas and soft tissue tumors. He is committed to improving outcomes for patients diagnosed with these cancers and is dedicated to advancing both the surgical management and multi-modality treatment of these tumors. Dr. Han’s research interests include clinical outcomes and gene expression profiling to determine prognostic and predictive biomarkers correlated with disease progression, treatment response and survival in patients diagnosed with melanoma and sarcoma.
