The Yale School of Medicine has been named an "HPV Center of Excellence" by the Digene Corporation, manufacturers of sophisticated DNA tests for detecting HPV, a common precursor to cervical cancer.

The American Heart Association Connecticut Chapter honored Yale cardiologist, Dr. Barry Zaret with the "Achievement in Cardiovascular Science and Medicine Award on June 8, 1999. Dr. Zaret is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, Chief of the Section and the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology.
