Endovascular Center

The Yale-New Haven Endovascular Center has earned national recognition for its multidisciplinary approach to vascular disease, wound healing, and limb preservation. Specialists in vascular surgery, interventional and diagnostic radiology, podiatry, nephrology, endocrinology, and cardiology work on a case-by-case basis to diagnose, manage, and follow patients with carotid, aortic and aortic branch disease, as well as those with chronic and complex wounds. The aim is to provide a comprehensive center for treatment of vascular disease, including carotid artery stenosis, visceral artery disease including the renal arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysms, vascular access for hemodialysis, aortoiliac occlusive disease, lower extremity arterial and venous problems, and nonhealing wounds and limbs.

At the center, vascular specialists perform the latest, least-invasive endovascular procedures for complex diseases of the aorta and its branches. In addition, the center is at the forefront of developing innovative techniques for limb salvage using local flaps and fixators. The center has gained much industry interest as an optimal location for clinical trials relating to wound healing procedures and medications, already generating more than twelve clinical trials.

The center offers novel treatment options to patients for whom traditional methods may have been unsuccessful. Specialists throughout the Endovascular Center frequently see patients together as a team, coordinating their services to ensure precise evaluation, the latest treatment options, and the best possible outcomes for patients.

The Endovascular Center also specializes in the following:

  • Cuffed prosthetic grafts and human umbilical vein grafts for patients without veins available
  • Treatment of traumatic aortic transection with an endovascular graft
  • Subintimal angioplasty to open occluded arteries
  • Hemodialysis for those who have exhausted their vascular access possibilities
  • Clinical trials for wound healing and limb preservation
  • Endovascular procedures for carotid stenois, visceral artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, aortoiliac occlusive disease, and lower extremity arterial and venous problems
  • Treatment with the retrievable inferior vena cava filter
  • CryoPlasty
