Neurology
Yale Neurology is devoted to clinical care of the highest quality for patients with neurological disease. Physicians are board certified neurologists, several of whom are further certified in the following subspecialty areas.
The Yale Epilepsy Program team works in collaboration with neurosurgery and diagnostic imaging to deliver intensive and innovative therapeutic and diagnostic services to individuals with varying forms and degrees of seizure and epilepsy. Specialists perform intensive audiovisual and electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring for diagnosis and localization of the affected area.
The MS/Neuroimmunology Program offers comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) and other inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system. Neurologists in the program utilize current therapies for MS, including beta interferon, and are actively involved in clinical trials identifying new agents for the treatment of MS.
The Neuromuscular Program provides expert consultation and management of all diseases of the peripheral nervous system, including neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, muscle disease, and motor neuron disease. They run a clinic sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and are designated as an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) center.
The Movement Disorder Program specializes in treating patients with all types of movement disorder, such as Parkinson's disease, tremor, Huntington's, and ataxia.
The Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory provides electrodiagnostic testing, including EEG, electromyography (EMG), evoked potentials, and 24-hour portable and inpatient EEG monitoring.
The Botox Program (or Botulinum Program) provides diagnostic and therapeutic treatment for patients with cervical dystonia, hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm, limb dystonia and spasticity.
The Yale-New Haven Stroke Center delivers advanced acute stroke diagnosis, treatment and preventive care. The center offers services that include a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week acute stroke team, an inpatient stroke consult service, specialized outpatient stroke clinics and participation in multidisciplinary clinical research.
